Young Thug wants to sign the rapper Quavo to his label, YSL Records, XXL reported on August 4. On August 3, Quavo posted a carousel of photos on Instagram showing himself in the studio and, in one image, standing outside Capitol Records, his label home. Young Thug replied in the comments, "Leave capital and come with us brada we need u," urging his longtime collaborator to leave.
Quavo did not respond publicly to the request. He remains signed to Quality Control Records, his longtime parent label, which is distributed through Capitol. Young Thug and Quavo have collaborated on several songs over the years, including "Guwop," "Pick Up the Phone," "Circle of Bosses" and "You Said."
It is not the first public pitch Young Thug has made for a rapper to join YSL. In June, he publicly asked Kodak Black to sign, and Kodak responded with a list of demands, including a $100 million signing fee and a collaboration with Young Thug's fiancee, Mariah The Scientist, after which Young Thug did not pursue it further.
Quavo later addressed the signing rumors Young Thug's post set off, and had separately shared a new single, Trance (Walk It Down), produced by Pharrell Williams. Young Thug's push to expand his hip-hop label's roster comes as YSL Records continues to build out beyond its founder.
