The baby blue lowrider Nipsey Hussle drove in the video for DJ Khaled's Higher went to auction on Friday 14 August 2026, listed by Mecum Auctions as part of its Monterey Car Week sale in Monterey, California.
The car is a custom 1959 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe, and the estimate published with the listing runs between $175,000 and $225,000. It comes in baby blue with a matching tri-tone blue interior, Dayton wire wheels and whitewall tyres, powered by a 283 cubic inch V8 paired with a Turbo Hydramatic 350 automatic transmission.
The part that makes it a lowrider rather than a restored Impala is underneath. A custom hydraulic suspension lets the car bounce, which is what put this class of car at the centre of Southern California car culture and, by extension, into the video it appeared in.
That video matters to the price. Higher, released in 2019 with John Legend, earned Nipsey Hussle his first of two Grammy Awards, taking Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2020 ceremony. The song was certified gold and was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards. Hussle was killed in March 2019, months before the video's release.
The timing puts the sale beside another release. Prolific, his collaborative album with Bino Rideaux, arrived on streaming services the same day the car went under the hammer, with merchandise, vinyl and CDs sold through a dedicated site.
