Country singer Ella Langley extends her No. 1 run on MusicRow's Top Songwriter Chart

Ella Langley has held the top spot on the MusicRow Top Songwriter Chart for a 17th consecutive week, a run built on five different songs working at once: her own "Be Her," "Bottom Of Your Boots," "Choosin' Texas" and "Loving Life Again," plus her duet with Morgan Wallen, "I Can't Love You Anymore."

Chase McGill moved up to No. 2 this week on the strength of "Carry On," "Hands Up," "McArthur" and "Water At A Wedding," while Joybeth Taylor sits at No. 3 with "Choosin' Texas," "Empty Words" and "I Can't Love You Anymore," two of the same songs helping to power Langley's own run. Austin Goodloe and Taylor Swift round out the rest of this week's top five. The weekly chart tracks songwriter activity using a mix of airplay, digital download sales and streaming numbers, making it a measure of how much of a writer's catalog is working across formats at once rather than just a single hit.

Langley's 17-week streak extends a stretch that's been building for months. She had already held the top spot as of early August, and has kept the momentum going with a steady run of outside attention too, from a duet with Koe Wetzel called "Jaded" to a parody of "Be Her" from comedian Cledus T. Judd.

That cultural reach carried into award season, too: Langley picked up two 2026 MTV VMA nominations this same week, for Best Country and for Song of the Year with "Choosin' Texas," one of the songs currently anchoring her MusicRow streak.

A run like this, spanning charts built for radio programmers as much as one built for streaming and sales, rarely happens without a genuine run of hits behind it, and Langley's five working songs at once put her in rare territory even by country music's own standards for a breakout year.
