Young Thug says the YSL album Slime Language 3 is close after a few changes

Young Thug said the Young Stoner Life compilation Slime Language 3 would arrive once a few changes were finished, hours after it missed the release he had promised for that morning. "Few changes sorry for the wait," he wrote, which is the whole of the public explanation so far.

The night before, on Thursday, August 27, he had told fans the record would land the following day. Midnight came and went. HotNewHipHop noted that the changes could mean anything from tracklist order to guest verses to sample clearances, and that no revised date has been given since.

The compilation is a restart for a series that stopped. Young Stoner Life put out Slime Language projects before the Georgia RICO case pulled the collective apart and left tensions between Young Thug and several affiliates. The new era leans on a different roster, including Tezzus and diamond*, and the single "Consummate" arrived earlier in the same week as the first piece of it.

Young Thug has also teased two sides of the release, which points at a double album. He suggested they would arrive together, though that may be exactly what the last-minute changes affect. A double-length label compilation is a different proposition from a single disc, and the sequencing problem alone is bigger.

The delay sits inside a wider stretch of friction. Thug drew criticism this month over advice he gave students at an event in Macon, Georgia, telling them fame was the most important thing, which a lot of people read as detached from what most of those students face.

The announcement is filed under hip-hop, and the date, once there is one, will sit on the release calendar. The rebuilt YSL roster has been in the news all year, from Young Thug saying he wants Quavo signed to the label to Quavo answering the rumour himself, and diamond* has spent the same stretch releasing BLING BOI EP 2 with DJ Holiday.
